Travel and Tourism

Welcome to Travel and Tourism

Travel and Tourism is a subject available to students in Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)

Travel & Tourism enables students to develop a wide range of skills including research on the internet, group communication, summarising information, geographical knowledge and presentation, whilst developing their knowledge and understanding of the role travel and tourism plays within our world today.

In relation to the wider world, students develop their geographical skills, their understanding of tourism destinations and elements that coincide with this. Students also learn about emerging and mature destinations, their characteristics and what stages they are required to go through to reach this status. Students understand how the three major sectors (voluntary, public and private) work alongside one another to strengthen the tourism industry and the role in which partners play. Students develop their understanding of the needs of consumers and the market research required in order to boost tourism and its impact on the economy.
