Student Leadership

At the heart of our School community are our students. To help us develop and shape the school to be the best it can be, we actively seek to hear their voice and provide them with appropriate opportunities to have input into our decision-making.

Senior Council

The senior council is a group of Year 11s who are always available to listen and represent the students, working alongside teachers to ensure they have a voice. They are identified around school by their maroon ties.

We value the personal development and wellbeing of students as much as their academic progress and we are always looking for ways to develop and ensure Uffculme School supports our students in the ways needed.

This year, we are hoping to consider important issues about inclusion, equality and diversity such as the BLM movement.

We also want to try our best to create as many opportunities as possible to maintain the culture and ethos of the school, despite facing the challenges of bouncing back from impact of the pandemic.

If students have any suggestions or queries, they are encouraged to email the Head Girl and/or Head Boy.

Student Council

Years 7-10 are represented by their own Student Councils who have been elected following a democratic application and voting process. Student councillors are identified around school by their green ties (or green and gold striped ties)

Each year group’s Student Council meet regularly (sometimes via team calls) and have their own individual area to work on, for example teaching and learning, the environment or school provisions. The councils work closely with their Head of Year and their peers in the year group to represent the voice of many.

In addition to the student councillors, there are also students who act as Anti-bullying Ambassadors, helping to ensure the school remains a safe and respectful place to be.

Exciting news is that we are introducing Mental Health Ambassadors this year. Watch this space!

Student Surveys

Sometimes we will seek the views of ALL students directly, rather than through the year group Student Councils. This is typically done where we want to be sure that we have heard each student’s experience of the school.

This year in addition to a general survey to capture each student’s view of the school, we have also undertaken a whole school Anti-Bullying Survey to help inform how we might ensure that all pupils feel safe and have confidence in our systems for responding to any bullying behaviour that might occur.
