Post-16 Providers

We seek to ensure that all students fully investigate the Post-16 opportunities available to them so they are able to make informed decisions about their next steps after leaving Uffculme School.

Introduction

During the course of Years 10 and 11, all students have multiple opportunities to hear from and meet with a range of Post-16 Providers including:

The main local Post-16 colleges, including Exeter College, Richard Huish College (Taunton) and Petroc College (Tiverton)
Specialist Post-16 Colleges, such as Bicton College, Cannington College, SPACE, Academy of Music and Sound, Exeter Maths School and Bridgwater and Taunton College
Local Sixth Forms such as Honiton Community College, Clyst Vale Community College and Queen Elizabeth’s School (Crediton)
Independent Schools (many of whom operate various bursaries and scholarships that students can apply for) - these include Blundells School (Tiverton), Maynard School (Exeter), Exeter School, King’s College (Taunton), Queen’s College (Taunton) and Wellington School

Opportunities to find out more about our local Post-16 Providers

We want all students to have the opportunity to meet with and talk with these providers, not just once but across the two years of KS4, as their ideas for the future shift and evolve.

Our programme therefore includes a comprehensive range of opportunities for students to hear from, research and question each provider, with support from our own school staff and Careers Advisor. These opportunities include:

A Post-16 Evening which is open to all students from Years 10 and 11 and their parents/carers will be held on Wednesday 1st November 2023 from 5.30pm - 7.00pm in The Venue, Uffculme School. The majority of the Colleges, Schools and Agencies listed below will have representatives on hand to answer any questions you might have regarding Post-16 provision. Prospectuses will be available for you to take away.
Presentations from each Post-16 provider during Personal Development lessons (with the opportunity to meet and have individual conversations with their advisors following these presentations)
Visits to each college
Weekly drop-in clinics - where students can meet advisors from the different colleges to discuss courses and applications etc
